CVS Tips

1. You need to apply for a CVS card. It is a free, store rewards card. You can pick up an application at the register. All ECB deals can only be earned if you have a card.

2. ECB = Extra Care Bucks. This is like free CVS "money" to be used on your next purchase.

3. Register your CVS card on there website and receive coupons emailed to you.

4. Each week I look at the store ad to determine what items earn an ECB. I then see which of these items I have a coupon for. After I purchase these items, I will earn ECB's (which are printed at the end of your receipt) to roll into my next purchase. Once you begin, you will continue "rolling" ECB's into more deals that earn ECB, thus, spending very little money out of pocket.

5. There is always a limit on each ECB offer. Check the fine print under the deal.

6. Always scan your card at the coupon machine located at the front of the store when you enter the store. The machine will print out various coupons. Last week, it printed one for $5 off $15 order. Because of this, I was able to purchase: 1 Irish Spring Body wash, 1 Colgate Max Fresh toothpaste, 1 Dry Idea deodorant and 3 bags of Hershey Kisses. I paid $1.63 out of pocket and earned $10 ECB to use next time.

7. All ECB's and CVS coupons that are printed either on your receipt or from the front machine, are linked to your card only. You cannot give these coupons to someone else to use, they will not work with their card.

8. Start CVSing on a good ECB week and then keep going from there. I always pay less then $2 out of pocket for any purchase I do at CVS and I am always stocked on our toiletries.

Hidden Coupons

Always look inside your Huggies diapers for coupons stuck to the side. A few of mine had a coupon for $.75/1 Gentle Care Wipes, 64 ct or larger. You can use these on the tubs of wipes. You can't have enough wipes or coupons, right?

Walgreens Tips

1. Walgreens will let you use one Manufacturer (MFR) coupon per item and you can stack these with an in-store coupon.

2. Register Rewards are considered a Manufacturer coupon. So if you have 3 packages of diapers and you are using a manufacturer coupon for each, this will work. If you want to use a RR with this purchase also, you will need to add in a "filler" item. You will need one "filler" item for each RR you are trying to use.

3. Buy something inexpensive for your "filler" item or stock up on candy or trinkets for upcoming holidays. I have been buying little, inexpensive candy for my boys Easter baskets and for the leprechaun that visits our home on St. Patty's day!

4. Best coupon order: Register Rewards first, then give them manufacturer coupons, then give them store coupons.

Walgreens Questions Answered

What is a RR?

RR stands for Register Reward, which is like free Walgreens money to be used on your next purchase. The only rule is that if you use a RR from one offer, if you "roll" it again into the same offer, another RR will not print.

For example, I bought the diaper deal using RR from last weeks purchases. I went back today and did the diaper deal 2 more times using more RR from last week. I now have RR from the huggies diaper deal that I can use next week on new RR items. Or I might decide to just use them up on diapers because they are such a good deal but I will not earn any new RR.

Do you have to split your purchase up into different transactions?

Yes, you have to do one diaper deal at a time. Register Rewards (RR) will only print one time per transaction on a particular offer. You can get RR on different offers in a transaction.

For Example, last week Walgreens had RR offers on Colgate toothpaste, Blink eye drops and Vaseline lotion. I had multiple coupons for these items. In each transaction, I bought one toothpaste, one lotion and one bottle of eye drops. I continued doing transactions until my coupons were done.

What is an Easy Saver Catalog?

This is the catalog at the front of the store, by the weekly adds. This gives you more Walgreens coupons that can be used for the month and information on the rebates offered for the month.

My transaction #1 today at Walgreens

3 jumbo packages of Huggies Gentle Care Diapers

- Buy $25 worth of huggies diapers get $10 RR

- I purchased 3 packages using the $5/1 coupon on each package. Total was $15 for the 3 packages and I earned $10 RR to be used on another purchase.

-At Walgreens, you can not "roll" the RR from one offer in to the same offer. I have RR stocked up from last week that I used for this purchase and I will be using the $10RR I earn this week to purchase stuff next week.

5 Glad Sense and Spray

-Sale Price $7.99

- I used $4/1 coupon from the Walgreens Easy Saver Catalog (available at the front of the store) and you only need one coupon per transaction. The amount will come off for each product you buy. Just make sure as they scan the coupon that the correct amount is deducted.

-Then I used a $4/1 coupon from the SS 2/8 for each Sense and Spray.

-Piggy backing these two coupons allowed me to purchase these for FREE. I just had to pay the tax.

2 Garnier Fruictis Shampoos and 2 Garnier Fructis Conditioner

-Sale Price $2.99

- I used a $2/1 coupon from the Walgreens Easy Saver Catalog

-Then I used a $1/1 coupon from various RP for each product.

- Final Price FREE

My Total for this transaction is $10.76, which is mainly tax.
